HAVING business interests in many parts of the world, Dato Chan Peng Hong, chairman of the General Lum- ber Holdings Group of Kuala Lumpur, is obliged to travel to many parts of the world. On recent trips he has taken the opportunity to make a study of luxury homes, and from this study he formed the basic ideas for the home of his own now completed at Changkat Kia Peng, Kuala Lumpur.
Costing approximately M$800,000 to construct and furnish, the house is separated into various distinct areas bedroom wing, formal entertainment
area, informal living area, and kitchen and service area.
The bedroom wing is isolated from all noisy activities, while the formal entertainment area includes a spacious dining-cum-entrance hall and living area which can be separated for pri- vacy, if necessary, and yet can be merged into one space, opening up to an extensive porch and terrace area for large formal gatherings. The living area is a large covered and open terrace, embracing a swimming pool and snack bar, complete with changing facilities. for the guests below the living area.
