+250°C to -200°C and is immune to virtually all chemical attack.

Its main use is as a covering surface on chutes and guide-rails. The fabric is 0.010 in. thick and is available with or without a pressure-sensitive adhesive backing in widths from 3/8 in. to 36 in. Nominal breaking strength is 200 lb./in.

WALLING SYSTEM

A wall-panel construction system that uses very simple locking and spac- ing ties has been developed by Hunter Structural Systems Ltd., Woolwich In- dustrial Estate, London, S.E. 18.

The panels are manufactured from unplasticised polyvinyl choride in rigid form for use in the construction of in-situ walls. No heavy lifting plant is necessary to position the lightweight units, formwork is not required and the durable external and internal finish eliminates the need for cladding and painting.

Only the infill need be altered to meet specific requirements. The panels are available in a wide range of modu- lar sizes, textures and colours.

COLOUR COPIER

A copying machine that copies in colour will be available next year from 3M Company, PO Box 3800, St. Paul, Minnesota, USA. The process is com- pletely dry, uses no silver and is said

to be particularly proficient in repro- ducing solids and half-tones.

The machine is a floor model with dimensions of 41 in. high, 40 in. long and 24 in. deep (104 by 101.5 by 61 cm). A raised control console is at one corner. For average operators, the con- trol console permits adjustment for colour tone and intensity. A control panel inside the machine permits operators more experienced in colour

technology to make more perfect fittings, surface mounted or mounted colour balance adjustments.

with support rings which allow variable projection beneath the ceiling.

To make a copy, the operator places an orginal face down on a platen similar to that used in dry photo- copiers. A dial setting permits auto- matic reproduction of the desired num- ber of copies up to ten, with an addi- tional setting for continuous operation.

The cover is closed and the press of a single button starts the copying process. An 81⁄2 by 11 in. (21.6 by 28 cm) copy is delivered to a receptor tray in about one minute.

BATHS

New Steelyne baths made by Car- ron Baths Ltd., Falkirk, Stirlingshire, Scotland, are pressed from a single sheet of 14 g. steel. They stack com- pactly for storage.

The baths are styled with a low line and flattened bottom and are pro- duced in two qualities – Gold Seal and Silver Seal in two overall lengths of 60 in. and 66 in., both weighing 80 lb. Overall width is 28 in. and internal

dimensions are 58% in. long, 22 in. wide and 15 in. deep.

Two vitreous-enamelled steel crad- les, lined for shock absorption, are sup- plied with each bath, and are adjusta- ble to give rim heights between 20% in. and 22 in. The finish is in acid and alkali-resistant, non-crazing ena- mel, in white, black and seven colours. Agents are McAlister and Co. Ltd., Singapore.

LIGHTING FITTINGS

The London company, Frederick Thomas and Co. Ltd., Stanhope Street, N.W. 1, has announced a new range of surface and recess mounted ceiling fit- tings with a wide selection of types and designs.

The range is made up of five groups: Recessa recessed tungsten fittings in two sizes, each with a choice of two diffusers; Geometra - a complemen- tary series of surface mounted fittings; Cercla surface mounted ceiling fit- tings for circular fluorescent lamps, in two sizes with acrylic diffusers; Lu- cida surface mounted opal glass fit- tings with a choice of six glasses, each with or without metal skirt; and Ac- centa low brightness down lighting

The Cercla series is available in two sizes and three wattages, the fittings

being supplied with switch start HPF control gear wired to a fused terminal block. The lampholders adjust to take up lamp tolerances and incorporate rm lamp clips which prevent any acc- idental dislodging of the lamps.

The diffuser attached to the fit- ting with positive action spring toggle catches is a re-entrant moulding of opal acrylic.

FORMWORK

Steel-edged plywood panels weigh- ing only 5 lb. per sq. ft. can be used for all types of shuttering, walls, col- umns and beams. Developed by Con- crete Formwork Ltd., Slough, Bucks., UK, the system permits the removal of formwork under a slab or beam while still leaving the concrete support- ed by the props.

This is accomplished by providing the props with a secondary head which fits like a collar around the upper part of the prop. The joists and panels of the formwork are placed so that they are supported on the secondary head. When erected, the primary prop head and the panels form a flush surface.

To strike the formwork, the sec- ondary head is lowered 11⁄2 in. permit- ting removal of all the panels and joists, leaving the primary prop supporting the beam or slab until the final cure has been reached. This early removal of panels and joists allows a consider- able increase in the number of times the formwork can be used.

Standard panels are 8 ft. by 2 ft and weigh 88 lb., but a range of 40 different sizes is made.
