Cover: Local artist, Douglas Bland executed this ceramic wall which brings a splash of colour to the sixth floor roof garden of the new Hongkong Hotel. The wall measures 120ft. long by 10ft. high. Its tiles, some embodying Chinese characters, were fired in a traditional Chinese kiln in the New Territories. The roof garden lays in the internal court of the H-shaped, 800-bed- room hotel, whose lobby and lower floor arcades connect with the Ocean Terminal and the adjacent Star House. Architects for the hotel were Eric Cumine Associates.
