Under plans being implemented in the southern sector of Singapore, the expressway will sweep westward from Toa Payoh to Jurong and eastward across Kallang Basin to Paya Lebar.

Planning for this part of the expressway is firm. The route plan for the northern sector is less definite. It will be finalised as Government plans for the comprehensive development of the British military base areas stretch- ing from Woodlands to Changi become more firm.

It will probably arc from Paya Lebar between the international air- port and Changi, run along the southern periphery of Seletar, Sem- bawang and Woodlands and curve down the western side of Singapore to link again with Jurong.

There will be a spur road from the southern part of the expressway slicing through the city area along a route now being looked at. Through this spur, the expressway will be directly linked with the central business areas, urban renewal precincts and the new town planned at Telok Blangah, north of the main port complex.
