The jury consisted of nine mem- bers with two advisors, as follows:

Four international members - Jose Antonio Coderch (Spain), Peter Land (United Nations), Sir Leslie Martin (United Kingdom) and Ernest Weiss- mann (United Nations); one member representing the International Union of Architects - Carl Koch (USA); four Peruvian members Ricardo Mala- chowski, Alfredo Perez and Manuel Valega, and one member elected later by the Peruvian entrants. The two advisors were Dario Gonzales (Peru) and Alvaro Ortega (United Nations). Construction of the new com- munity will be carried out by a de- velopment group of Peruvian and foreign personnel including specialists in the fields of building methods and materials, cost analysis, housing management, industrial and interior design, etc. The final designs, working drawings and specifications will be based upon the six selected projects and prepared in collaboration between the respective architects and the de- velopment group.
The development group will also prepare designs for some equipment to be used in the houses, such as sanitary installations, hardware, etc. and in- expensive modern furniture.
Director of the project for the United Nations is Peter Land, an architect from the United Kingdom who has been working in Peru on its formulation for three years. He was trained at the Architectural Associa- tion, Carnegie Institute of Technology and Yale University, and has carried out developments and experimental designs in the UK and USA.
Advisor to the project, Alvaro Ortega, is a Columbian architect who has been responsible for schemes in rationalised construction and building components in Bogota and Mexico. He has been inter-regional advisor in housing and building since 1960.
To finance the project the Govern- ment of Peru will provide US$ 5,321,214 and the UNDP US$ 1,116,581. A board of directors con- sisting of representatives of national housing and development agencies and the UNDP will co-ordinate operations.
