Precast concrete factory, London
The moulds have integral heating, vibration (to compact the concrete) and hydraulically-controlled hoods, which are also heated to enable the concrete to be cured in the mould as soon as practicable, so that the mould can be used again on the same day.

Reinforced plastic used on dome construction
Thirty reinforced plastic shells are used in the 30 metre diameter central dome of a new market recently completed at Argenteuil, near Paris.
Each shell, weighing 400 kg. and 6 mm. in thick- ness, is bolted to a tubular metal frame and made leak-proof by overlapping the previous shell. Rain- water collecting tanks, also built in reinforced plas- tic, prevent any water from infiltrating to the foot of the dome.
Designed by Dubigeon-Normandie, the dome has 30 glazed openings. Each of the wings of the building is provided with dual lighting and ventilation units in the form of three translucent reinforced plastic domes, each measuring 3 metres in diameter.
The entrance facades are closed off by 70 sq. m. of translucent Translor. Some 112 sq. m. of un- breakable flat translucent Vitralor sheeting is used for the imposts and glazed frames of the dome.
