As stated, the swimming pool is also designed for underwater filming, special underwater glass panels being installed on two walls of the pool for the shooting of aqua scenes.
The sloping site necessitated a multi-storey solution. However in or- der to compensate the family quarters being on an upper level, thus lacking a 'house on the ground' feeling, a turfed garden has been provided off the mas- ter bedroom and the family living areas on the first floor.
Structure
The structural design is based on the London Building (Constructional) Amending By-Law (No.1) 1964.
There are three particular features of the structure. A large span thick slab was adopted for the roof of the circular-shaped private cinema at the lower level, as this also acts as the driveway to the house.
Large balconies between the core walls of the building, with edge beams at right angles projecting from the walls, have been treated as prop canti- levers supporting each other, since the deflection at the point where two beams meet together must be the
same.

Bedrooms overlooking the car port are supported by metal channels en- cased in concrete and suspended from the roof cantilevering beams.
Contractors
The total cost of the project, in- cluding air-conditioning, but excluding professional fees, was approximately HK$1,560,000.
