The main wall of the banking hall has been featured by the use of shap- ed Siamese teak blocks set in a dia- mond pattern while the waiting hall is decorated with a set of Danish de- signed golden chandeliers.

Siamese teak also features in the banking hall and mezzanine ceiling which comprise timber strips set in a

herring bone pattern to give an attrac- tive light and shade effect.

From the banking hall access is available to the safe deposit room in the basement and to the bank's ac- counts department on the mezzanine floor.

giving access by two express lifts to all floors including the basement. mail chute is incorporated in this lobby which is lined with Travertino at the ground and mezzanine levels and Siamese teak veneer plywood to all other floors.

The banking hall and all office floors are fully glazed from floor to ceiling in aluminium frames. To afford protection from solar glare and to reduce the heat load on the air- conditioning plant, the office windows are sheltered by sun-breakers which provide a strong vertical emphasis to the external elevations.

Air Conditioned

The bank proper and the office areas are fully air-conditioned from a central plant with individual air hand- ling units at each office floor.

Above the offices is a penthouse. air-conditioned from an independent package unit. The main air condition- ing plant room is located at the pent- house level with woodwool slab in- sulated walls, while the roof houses the cooling tower, water storage tanks and lift motor rooms.

Water from the public mains is stored in a suction tank at basement level where it is pumped to the roof storage tank for general use. Drink- ing water is brought up to the various floors by a pneumatic water pressure system.

Adequate floor outlets are provided for telephones designed on a grid system to allow maximum flexibility of telephone locations.

The exterior walls and columns are finished with Italian marble and bush hammered plaster and the public five- foot way is tiled with mosaic. In- terior floors in the entrance foyer. banking hall, lift halls, main staircase and patio in the penthouse are finished with broken marble flooring. Office areas are tiled with vinyl asbestos except the manager's and compra- dore's offices which are carpeted.
