Restaurant and community hall hub of the estate podium, a group of market stalls is constructed. These are surrounded by shops selling fresh fruit, vegetables, rice and general provisions.

Due to the profile of the terrain it has been possible to form two more floors below ground floor of a much smaller area and comparatively long and narrow. A bowling centre for resi- dents is to be set up there, below a youth centre of about 5,000 sq.ft. These facilities adjoin areas of play space in the adjacent residential blocks, at the same level.

In forming the site for the estate, the authority provided sites for four primary schools, two of which have now been completed by Government grant-aided societies.

Costs

Total cost of the Wah Fu project is estimated to be about HK$88 million, about $50 million of which has been loaned by Government, the balance being met from the authority's own re-

sources.

Flats in the estates are let to fami- lies with incomes of HK$400 to $900 a month. Rents range from HK$95 a month for a six-person flat to $135 for an eight-person flat, inclusive of rates.

The project has been designed and the construction supervised by the authority's architectural staff over a period, when completed, covering six and a half years. This work, at all stages has been developed in accor dance with the requirements of the Government Buildings Ordinance, in the same way as for any private real estate scheme.
