Epikote resins give a strong new approach

Epikote resin was used as the grouting material on the approaches to the fine new Brienenoord Bridge at Rotterdam. The bridge consists of concrete approaches and fixed and movable steel parts. Headroom will be very high, in order to cause as little hindrance to shipping as possible. This in turn means high bridge approaches and special requirements for their construction. The concrete cross beams weighing 75 metric tons each have to be positioned accurately on the uprights. This calls for a grouting material which has to set and develop a minimum compressive strength of 50 Kg/cm2, within two hours of application, with no shrinkage. The formulated Epikote grouting compound* met this requirement with unsurpassed safety and solidity. For further information please contact your Shell company. In the UK apply to your Shell Chemicals regional office or Shell Chemicals UK Ltd.. Shell Centre, London SE1. *Material supplied by Sikkens Smits N.V. Holland.
