BANK SLOPER

Angle Can be Adjusted or Any Slope Ratio

A NEW 6ft. hydraulic bank sloper, Model HBS-D6 for all Caterpillar D6 rawler tractors, is announced by American Tractor Equipment Cor- oration. Oakland, California, USA.

The sloper mounts on the left dge of the dozer arm, allowing com- lete operator visibility in all work- ng positions. With finger-tip hydrau- c controls, the slope angle can be djusted from 221⁄2 degrees to 90 de- rees for any slope ratio.

A rolling curvature on the blade itches the waste forward and down > that it feeds across the dozer blade Or uniform, continuous trimming. he cutting edge is a standard dozer ze and an optional 2ft, extension is vailable. When not in use, the sloper

Ateco equipment is sold through aterpillar. International, Euclid and llis-Chalmers dealers.

proved Digging Machine Operates More Efficiently

CAPABLE of digging trenches, grad- g. and laying drainage tiles in one beration, the Allen Landraner is ow available in a Mk. 4 version in-

rporating several improvements. Power for the digging mechanism ›mes from a 63 b.h.p. Fordson 5000 iper Major crawler tractor, equip- d with a specially-designed reduc- on gearbox for a range of travelling eeds from 1.29 to 3.80 m.p.h. The gging wheel, mounted at the back

of the tractor, excavates to a depth of 4 ft. 6 in. and rotates at either 10 or 14 r.p.m.

By combining different travelling and wheel speeds, an experienced operator can use the machine on a wide variety of soil conditions at speeds from 1.8 to 39 f.p.m. An ad- justable safety clutch prevents dam- age through overloading, and improv- ed hydraulic-ram efficiency increases the power for raising and lowering the wheel.

Other changes made to the Land- raner include simplified controls and improved forward sighting. The re- designed scraper, positioned by a screw adjustment, can be fitted with different heads, and the wheel accepts 9 or 12 in. wide buckets, both equip- ped with removable teeth. Driven by an independent hydraulic pump, the 18 in. wide conveyor discharges spoil at a variable height on either side of the machine.

The tiler can handle 3, 4 and 6 in. land-drain tiles and, when equip- ped with a special extension, plastic pipe in coils or 20 ft. lengths.

PILE HAMMER

Self-scavenging for Instant Starts in Any Soil

LINK-BELT Speeder Co.. Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA, have introduced a diesel pile hammer that starts in- stantly even in soft ground.

Called the Model 440 it includes a self-scavenging system which in- sures an abundant supply of fresh air to aid combustion: a closed top and

remote-controlled atomized fuel-injec- tion; 86-90 blows per minute; a two- diameter ram which will not cause the anvil to “run away" under soft driving conditions; and centre-line lifting and starting with only one crane line.

A push-rod starting mechanism allows the operator to start the 440 with a simple slackening of the crane hoist line.

Ram weight is 4.000 lb, and rated energy 18,200 ft-lb. Link-Belt Speeder also manufacture two other diesel pile hammers, the model 180 rated at 8,100 ft-lb. and the model 520 rated at 26,300 ft-lb.

ALTERNATOR

1.5 Kva Unit Mounted on Two-wheel Chassis

JOHNSON Machinery Ltd., Adswood, Stockport, Ches.. UK. have added a 150D alternator set to their range.

It consists of a permanent-magnet type AC generator with an output of 1.25 1.5 Kva at 110 volts, 200 cycles, three phase, close coupled to a Pet- ter type AAl air-cooled single cylinder diesel engine, developing 3 b.h.p. at 3,000 r.p.m.

The unit is mounted on a fabricat- ed steel chassis with two 14 in. by 3 in. wheels, support leg and towing handle. Two outlet sockets are fitted as standard.

Johnson now make a series of high- cycle alternators with outputs up to 6 Kva, the equipment being designed for use with their Multibrator range of electric poker vibrators with “in- the-head" motors.
