Brewery buildings and amenity block beyond
All buildings were designed to be in fair-faced concrete as economically and visually appropriate. During the construction this was revoked and all concrete was rendered or painted.
The main brewery block has its offices facing the main road. Visitors arrive at the reception hall, off from which are the administration, brewery entrance and reception suite. As part of the reception facilities is a lounge bar, which was required to provide the atmosphere of a public house. Demountable partitioning was design- ed for the offices, again to provide maximum flexibility during the growth of the brewery.
Health, food and recreational facilities have been provided for the staff in the amenity block, which is an enclosed block with a central court.
Before work began. this project was subjected to critical path analysis to estimate the time necessary for the completion of each step and its in- fluence on all subsequent steps. As a result of this analysis the first Guinness was brewed only 16 months after the start of the preliminary site work.
