Circular pavilion of France rises eight storeys on the lle Notre-Dame. Each floor in the concrete and glass structure has a different geometrical shape, the centre being hollow. The swirling canopy on top is made from aluminium extrusions. From the top visitors gaze down on to a fountain, 190 ft. below. The architects are Jean Faugeron of Paris, and Andre Blouin of Montreal.

Soviet Union pavilion will become a con- gress hall in Moscow after Expo closes. Glass clad, it is covered by a huge up- swept rectangular roof of aluminium, supported on two V-shaped steel pylons. The interior is dominated by a spherical planetarium. Exhibits represent achieve- ments in the fields of industry, science, technology and social development
