S'Road, Bangkok was founded in

1920 by the Community of Saint Gabriel Brothers, whose headquarters is in Rome. It is a day college for boys and its original enrolment of 60 boys has grown over the years to the present-day 2,600 pupils.

The original school building was a classic style, three-storey edifice, mea- suring 10 metres by 80 metres. It houses 16 classrooms, a small confer- ence hall with a capacity of 300 pupils and a small library.

Since this was built three other buildings have been added, as well as a mess hall and a covered playground. These are sited around a football field and a basket ball field.

Even with these extensions the ex- isting buildings are inadequate for the present enrolment. The old auditor. ium accommodates only 300 boys and at assemblies the college must use the covered playground which is open on all sides. A new conference hall is therefore planned by the school au- thorities.

The school compound is limited in area with no possibility of expansion. so the new conference hall must be built on the playground site by remov- ing the playhall and replacing it by a new construction. The area for the
