HOUSE EXTENSION

Offices and showroom addition to

SYSTEM of pressed steel louvred sun-screens suspended from ex- ternal reinforced concrete hoods over the windows has been used on three sides of a new office building recent- ly completed at Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.

Sun penetration is minimal these three sides. On the fourth side reinforced concrete sunbreakers, 41 ft. high, have been employed.

to the East Asiatic Co.'s Denmark House. It was planned partly over an existing godown, which originally occupied part of the site at the rear of Denmark House and which now forms the basement to the new office building.

Construction is of in-situ reinforced concrete columns, beams and floors, with brick infill panels. The main floor beams span 28 ft. with secondary beams spanning 14 ft. 9in. Floors are generally 3in. thick.

Each office floor has a central access corridor, with main staircase, lift and store at one end, and secondary stairs, air conditioning plant room and store at the other.

The roofing con- sists of Brownbuilt sheeting оп steel purlins, supported by reinforced con- crete roof beams.
