Nippon Steel: when you build buildings

Ready-to-bolt columns and beams

save time and money for IBM

The 22-story, 86.5-meter tall IBM building in Tokyo went up in only six months, because Nippon Steel ready-to-bolt columns and beams were used. It cost less to build,

too.

The builder sent us his blueprints and materials specifications. We fabricated the columns and beams,

and had them on the site to meet

his construction schedule-com-

plete with splice plates and bolts. Most of the connections were by bolting. What's more, structures for the earthquake and typhoon proof skyscrapes were fabricated from a combination of WEL-TEN high-strength steel and carbon steel. Materials savings were substantial.
