ROTO-TROWEL
42 in. Diameter Tool Weighs Only 139 lb.
STOW Manufacturing Co., 627 Shear Street, Binghampton, New York, USA, are marketing a new 42 in. diameter Roto-Trowel three-blad- ed trowelling machine with one set of finish and one set of float blades. Ideal for large floor areas, it is pow- ered by a 6 h.p. Briggs and Stratton engine and weighs only 139 lb.
Designated the G42C1-3A, it has a sliding-sheeve type clutch which stops the blades the instant the operator re- leases the handle. This feature also allows the machine to be started at any throttle position. A stationary guard ring allows the operator to work right up to walls and other ob- stacles with safety.
Additional features include a long adjustable handle and a handle-

mounted blade pitch control knob which allows the operator to adjust the pitch of the blades while the ma- chine is in operation.

BACKHOE
Offset machine with
13 ft. 6 in. Digging Depth
THE 305 offset backhoe from Whitlock Bros. Ltd., Great Yeldham, Essex, UK, is powered by a three- cylinder diesel engine developing 55 b.h.p. at 2.200 r.p.m.
Offsetting is carried out by remov- ing two locking pins and hydraulical- ly slewing the jib into either offset position. The pins are then replaced and work can commence.
Two independently operated hy- draulic stabilisers enable the machine to work safely across slopes of up to 12 degrees. The angled stabilisers give a minimum span of 8 ft. 1 in. and a maximum span of 8 ft. 4 in. The ex- cavator's maximum digging depth is 13 ft. 6 in. the maximum loading height is 12 ft. 2 in. and the bucket

reaches out to 19 ft. The break out force measured at the bucket is 15,- 250 lb.
The machine has a front end loader with a carrying capacity of 2,300 lb. and an angle of dump of 45 de- grees. The height at which it can load over the side of a truck is 11 ft.

TUBE BENDER
One Man Can Operate Hydraulically - powered Machine
THE Mini-boxer bending machine can accept pipes with nominal bores from 2 to 6 in., bending them to radii from two to five times the pipe dia- meter. Fully hydraulic, it operates through sequence valves and, once set up, can be controlled by one man.
Power for the machine's 12 in. dia- meter hydraulic cylinders comes from a 10 h.p. electric pump. After a pipe has been manually fitted over the sup- port mandrel, ready for bending, a two-lever control applies the clamping mechanism, brings the support-clamp roller into position, and bends the pipe to the required angle.
On completion of the bend, the second lever causes the mandrel to withdraw from the pipe and, at the same time, opens a quick-release mechanism so that the pipe can be re- moved. Overall dimensions of the

machine, which stands on four tubular-steel legs, are 9 ft. wide by 23 ft. long (including the mandrel) by 4 ft. high.

SKIP
Clamshell Shutters Fitted Over Discharge Openings
LATEST range of Audax concrete skips consists of five air-operated and six manually-operated versions, with capacities from 2 to 8 cu. yd. and 1⁄2 to 3 cu. yd. respectively. All sizes
feature wide discharge openings, made possible by a cross-coupled shutter linkage that permits clamshell shutters to be fitted over the circular discharge openings and to operate smoothly without gears.
The skips also retain the existing Audax method of pivoting the shut- ters eccentrically so that they open partly downwards and create a slight vacuum to start the concrete flowing.
Depending on the resources avail- able on site, power for the air-operat- ed versions can be supplied either from a remote compressor, through a hose linked to the skip before pour- ing, or from integral equipment mounted on the skip framework.
Of the manually-operated skips, the four sizes from 2 to 11⁄2 cu. yd. have been designed for operation by one man. Fitted with a 2 ft. diameter dis- charge opening, they are suitable for high-level discharge into concrete moulds or the hoppers of block-mak- ing machines. The 2 and 3 cu. yd. sizes both have a 3 ft. diameter dis- charge.
The smallest skip has a charging height of 3 ft. 2 in., a charging dia- meter of 3 ft. 4 in. and weighs 250 lb.: while the largest, 5 ft. 1 in. in diameter, stands 6 ft. 2 in. high and weighs 2,000 lb. All air models have a 3 ft. diameter discharge.
Audax Ltd., Central Avenue, West Molesey. Surrey, UK, are seeking agents in S.E. Asia.
