Safety on construction sites
A 13-minute black-and-white film dealing with safety on construction sites made by the Hong Kong Film Unit on behalf of the Labour Depart- ment has won praise in London. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office, together with the Board of Trade, approved it, and are sponsoring non-thea- trical distribution outside the United Kingdom.
The film has also been favourably reviewed by London's Industrial Training International. The critic wrote: "A comprehensive picture of safety regulations followed in the construction of a big power station on an island in Hong Kong. Points covered include the use of cement and shuttering in excavation work, safety rules for cranes and lift- ing gear, and a first-aid station backed by heli- copter.
"An all-pervading feature is the unusually high standard of tidiness on the site. Suitable for man- agers and supervisors."
The film was made with the full co-operation of the Peninsula Electric Power Company, underlining safety measures adopted during construction of its station in Tsing Yi Island.
