Mast lengths are in multiples of 25 ft. up to a maximum of 150 ft. on the mobile and truck versions and 100 ft. on the crawler type. The correspond- ing fly-booms increase in multiples of 20ft. up to a maximum of 80 ft. when the maximum mast lengths are used.
All fly-boom lengths are complete- ly self-erecting from the ahead' or 'tucked under' position of the boom, and no re-rigging is necessary when the mast is erected.
The crawler-tracked crane has a maximum capacity of 91⁄21⁄2 tons when using a 75 ft. mast and 60ft. fly boom. Standard power unit on all models is the Perkins 6.354 diesel, developing 90 b.h.p. at 2000 r.p.m. Hoisting speeds on a single line are up to 120 ft. per minute.
CONCRETE SAW
A multi-purpose concrete and as- phalt saw suitable for cutting expan sion joints, cleaning them prior to re-sealing, or marking out surfaces prior to breaking out with pneumatic tools, has been developed by Errut Products Ltd., Townsend Lane, Lon- don, N.W. 9.
The saw is powered by a 81⁄2 h.p. four stroke engine, drive being trans- mitted through treble x-section belts. In addition to the specially designed handles, enabling the operator to have maximum control of the cut, and the double front guide wheels for easy straight line cutting, a free running pointer is fitted so that setting out lines and joints can be easily followed.
Weight distribution has been care- fully arranged to make the machine easy to handle and light enough to be used on newly set concrete without disturbing the surface, ausing mini- mum wear to the abrasive blade and the relatively soft concrete.

Greater depths of cut and higher speeds are obtainable when cutting asphalt with the specially designed, hot-pressed, laminated, abrasive blade.
trench 70yd. per hour in good soil.
Buckets from 12in. to 36in. with a maximum capacity of 12.28 cu.ft. may be fitted and bellhoe buckets are avail- able in three sizes up to 38in. with 4.92 cu.ft. capacity. Hydraulically-cus- hioned stops automatically bring the boom to a slow, smooth stop at both ends of the 190-degree swing to pre- vent jarring.
The backhoe, powered by a 37 h.p. diesel, has a digging force of 6,870 lb. and a boom lift capacity of 2,300 lb. with the dipper arm fully extended. Its digging radius is 15ft. 5in. from the swing pivot and it has an overall reach of 18ft. 6in. from the rear axle.
The loader has a breakout force of 5,500 lb., a hydraulic lift capacity at ground level of 4,700 lb., at 18in. 4,000 lb., and at full height 2,200 lb.
ROCK SHOVEL
Bucket capacities up to 25 cu. yd. (19,1 cu.m) can be carried by the Michigan 475 rock shovel, which the makers claim is the largest tractor shovel now being manufactured.
The rubber-tyred unit stands 15ft. (45.72 m) high and has a 635 h.p. diesel engine. Operating load capacity is 36,000 lb. (16340 kg).
Turning radius of the articulated machine, which has 70-degree steering is 32ft. 10in (10 m), less than the machine's overall length of 11.98 m. Bucket speeds are 10,5 sec. for raising, 6,5 sec. lowering and 3 sec. dumping.
The Model 475 rides on 37, 25-35, 30PR tyres and is equipped with eight- speed power transmission. Top forward and reverse speed is 28.2 m.p.h. (45,4
Depth of cut is controlled by a positive screw-type adjuster mounted in the centre of the handle allowing accurate setting and compensation for blade wear. The blade fixing system is designed to allow for maximum usage_km/hr). of the cutting blades.
