Articulation gives the machine a turning radius of 229 in. with dozer, permitting operation in confined areas. A long wheel base and wide tread as- sures stability particularly at high speeds.

rotary and percussion drilling equip- ment where the rotation unit has a through compressed air supply. One useful drilling vehicle for COP 4 is the new rubber-wheeled drill wagon, BVB 25, which can also be used for conven- tional rock drills. With this drill wagon it is possible to drill vertically and at an inclination and to drill a simple toe hole forward 60 cm (24 in.) above the ground. Travelling speed is 2 km/h (1.25 mph).
WHEEL TRACTOR
Caterpillar Far East Ltd., PO Box 13069, Hong Kong, has added a new wheel tractor-dozer, the 814, to its
range.
Powered by a Cat D333C turbo- charged diesel engine, the 814 has 170 flywheel horsepower. Tractor operat- ing weight equipped with bulldozer is 23,600 lb., but in poor traction condi-

tions the operating weight can increas- ed to 40,700 lb. with tyres 75 per cent ballasted with calcium chloride.
The transmission has four manually selected speeds forward and reverse. Rear axle oscillation of 24 in. gives a smooth ride and minimises blade reac- tion to bumps.
The hydraulic dozer features an in- side mounted push arm system, blade lift, tip and tilt, and full skid shoe for high speed dozing. Three reversible

ROTO-TROWEL
A new line of 45 in. diameter
• Roto-Trowels is being produced by Stow Manufacturing Co., 627 Shear Street, Binghampton, New York.
-
The basic model is the 45G631 — a three-bladed machine powered by a Briggs & Stratton 6 h.p. engine and using 6in. x 18in. finish blades and 10in. x 18in. float blades with op- tional 8in. x 18in. combination blades.
A similar machine is the model 45G641 which has four blades instead

of three to give a smoother finish. There is also a four-bladed heavy-duty model, the 46G751 which is powered by a 7 h.p. Wisconsin engine.
Each model has a sliding sheave type clutch, stationary guard ring, long adjustable handle, and pitch control mounted on the handle.
SPRAY PLANT
Based on the existing Mk. 6B com- mercial compressor, the Autospray 6 spray plant consists of a compressor unit, a 1-qt. (1.1-1.) syphon-feed spray gun, 25 ft. (7.62 m) of air hose and a 10 ft. (3.048 m) length of three-core cable.
Each Autospray 6 makes use of a 11⁄2 h.p. electric motor to drive the two-cylinder, single-stage, oil-ring- lubricated compressor via twin V-belts, this whole assembly being mounted on a horizontal air receiver measuring 12 in. in diameter by 3 ft. long (305 by 914 mm) overall and set on two U- shaped metal supports. pressure to suit the article being spray- ed, and a pressure switch with a hand isolating control ensures that the re- ceiver is always full and the plant ready for immediate operation. Other standard fittings include an inlet filter, safety valve, pressure gauge and drain tap.
The Autospray 6 measures appro- ximately 3 ft. long by 2 ft. 6 in. high by 1 ft. 6 in. wide (914 by 762 by 457 mm) and comes finished in a hammer- ed blue enamel with a red guard. Its syphon-feed spray gun makes use of a one-piece plastic combined handle and cup lid. Controls on the-gun enable the user to alter both spray pattern and the amount of paint to be sprayed.
The makers are Motivair Compres- sors Ltd., Ercroft Industrial Estate, Rugby Road, Twickenham, Middx., UK.
WELDING
A 35 to 500 amp. a.c. output at an 80 v. striking voltage or a 35 to 350 amp. d.c. output at 100 v. is offered by the ADC 500 arc welder made by Max Arc Ltd., Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, UK. A simple hand lever pro- vides stepless control, and operation can be carried on continuously under normal hand-welding conditions.
Air-cooled and mounted on a strong steel chassis with 8 in. diameter solid-rubber tyred wheels, the ADC 500 weighs 570 lb. and measures 3 ft. 2 in. long by 2 ft. 2 in. wide by 2 ft. 2 in. high. It incorporates an a.c./d.c. selector plug and sockets, and can be equipped for tungsten inert gas weld- ing.
