First to twelth floor plan
usable, being on the top of a high cliff.
The building, a reinforced concrete structure with simple spread footings, covers only 271⁄2 per cent. of the site area. This was in order to adapt the natural contours of the site to provide two levels of car parking, one at Blue Pool Road and one at the original terrace level. A total of 35 parking spaces is provided.
The width of the whole building is only 55 ft., so the ground floor en- trance was deliberately set at 14 ft. high to create a feeling of elegance to the approach and entrance lobby.
Bay windows, which create extra space internally, and the semi-circular balconies off-set a narrow box-like effect and add harm and character to the building.
A bright and attractive colour scheme was chosen for the exterior. Walls are painted in gleaming white Sandtex, red Japanese glazed tiles are used for window parapets and a strik- ing orange Sandtex paint covers all sof- fits of projecting elements. The small entrance lobby has a light cream coloured marble floor and walls.
Internally, kitchen and utility areas have red quarry-tile floors and white Formica finished counters and cabi- nets.
