CRANE

A 30-ton capacity carrier-mounted hydraulic crane has been announced by Grove Manufacturing Co., PO Box 21, Shady Grove, Pa, USA.

30-ton crane

Designated model TM275, the machine offers boom lengths to 92 ft. and Stow- away jibs up to 40 ' ft. Depending on boom and jib com- binations, maximum hook height is 121 ft. Lift capacity is 60,000 lb. at 10 ft. radius.

The crane fea- tures a number of recently developed improvements, in- cluding more posi- tive swing control and braking action; 12,000 lb. line pull, optional high line speed; and boom telescope cylinders with strong- er shafts and bushings. A three-sheave boomhead and in. cable are standard for the main hoist.

All load-carrying cylinders are equipped with safety valves. Hydraulic outriggers, beams and jacks are con- trollable individually or in combina- tion from the operator's cab. Double- box horizontal beams extend 16in. centre to centre.

TYRED ROLLER

All-wheel drive, all-wheel steering and all-wheel oscillation are provided in the GT24 pneumatic tyred road roller developed by Johs. Moller's Ma- chine Works Ltd., 6551 Over-Jerstal, Denmark.

The vehicle has a very small turning radius and retains full compaction coverage in turns. It is powered by a 6-cylinder Ford diesel engine develop ing 128 b.h.p. at 2,800 r.p.m. A twin- disc torque converter transmits the power through propeller shafts — to two identical shafts each fitted with four wheels tyred in 12.00 x 20, 14 PR.

and can be filled with sand ballast, or emptied, in a few minutes. Ground contact pressure is from 2.60 to 5.85 kg/sq.cm. and travel speeds are from 3.8 to 25.7 km/h in both directions. The sprinkler tank contains 1,800 litres.

BACKHOE

Two-speed hoisting and controlled lowering are features of a new 11⁄4 cu.yd. backhoe, the LS-4200. It has an all-welded frame and power hydraulic

steering with automatic spring-applied, hydraulically released digging-steer brakes.

The hoe attachment is a low alloy, high strength boom and arm with hydraulic cylinders mounted on self aligning bushings. The machine has a maximum digging depth of 22ft. 6in. plus the ability to cut an 8ft. level bottom ditch at a depth of 21ft. 11in. and a clear dumping height of 15ft.

The makers are Link-Belt Speeder, Division of FMC Corporation, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA.

PUMP

Dewatering flooded areas, sumps, drains and building sites can be carried out with the MacEwan PPC 5/5 5in. axial-flow pump, designed to discharge at a rate of 40,000 g.p.h. against a 13ft. head. The total weight has been kept down to 190 lb. to allow for easy handling by only two men.

Supported and protected by a weld- ed frame of 14in. diameter steel tube, the unit comprises a 5 h.p., four stroke, air-cooled petrol engine, close coupled to a close-grain cast-iron pump with a solid-bronze impeller, a solid-brass stator tube, an internal filter and an external screen of in. square protec- tive mesh to prevent leaves and other waste from blocking the impeller.

The fully self-contained pump is supplied as standard with 50 ft. of 6in. nylon-reinforced p.v.c. delivery hose which lies coiled on a metal platform within the frame when not in use.

If required, the whole unit can be floated on two 12-gal. oil drums and left

to deal with any depth of water. It measures 4 ft. 7 in. long by 3 ft. 9 in. high by 1 ft. 6 in. wide overall.

Jobson & Beckwith, 62 Southwark Bridge Road, London, S.E. 1. UK, are the makers.

CONCRETE FINISHER

Stow are producing a new heavy duty concrete finishing machine that finishes an area 3 ft. in diameter with every rotation.

The model, 36G641, has a 6 h.p. petrol engine and rugged gear box that is virtually trouble free. It is sold with one set of finish blades and one set of float blades, which are reversible for double life. In addition, clip-on float blades are available.

The 36G641 Roto Trowel includes
