New Simplified System for Walls snd Slab Structures
INTRODUCTION of their U-form formwork system to the S.E. Asia market is announced by Acrow (En- gineers) Ltd., South Wharf, London. W.2.
U-Forms range in size from 2 ft. by 2 ft., to 8 ft. by 2 ft. Fractional widths, internal and external corner forms and angles are also available.

Simplicity of erection is achieved when the forms are applied to wall construction because there is only one variable factor the number of steel ties needed. This factor depends upon the height and rate of pour re- quired. The problems of quantity and section of walings required and the horizontal spacing of tie bolts to control deflections of walings have been eliminated.
This has been achieved by provid- ing adequate horizontal stiffening within the form frame by the use of flat snap ties on every vertical joint. Walings then attached to the form assembly are only necessary to ensure alignment of the whole structure and are not load bearing members.
The flat snap ties on the vertical joints also act as spacers, thus requir- ing only one face of the U-Form as- sembly to be aligned because the op- posite face is automatically controlled from the waled face.
U-Forms can be used for one set- up formwork to any height and con- crete can be poured in one continuous

fast pour as the system is designed to withstand a pressure of 1,500 lb. per sq. ft.
Weighing only 6 lb. per sq. ft., U- form has a steel frame and a working face of 1⁄2 in. resin-bonded plywood. For slab construction, the forms are used in conjunction with Acrow props and support beams which have per- manent locating pins. Locating brac- kets are built into each corner of the U-Form frame to ensure simplicity of assembly.

AIR HANDLING Filter Section for Packaged Equipment
A FABRICATED filter section, designed to bolt between the mixing chamber and fan coil section on "packaged" air handling equipment, has been de- veloped by Farr Co., P. O. Box 90187, Los Angeles 9, USA,
Known as the Farr HP Glide- Pack, the filter box accommodates

disposable filters. Special tracks per- mit the standard filter assemblies to slide in and out of the galvanised steel filter box.
Gaskets seal all joining parts to prevent air by-pass and doors are provided at each side of the unit for easy access when servicing. Capaci- ties range from 935 to 25,800 c.f.m.
The filter, HP-2A, is a pre-formed. deep-pleated, strainer type filter. Mean efficiency of the system is rated at 36.5 per cent on NBS (atmospheric)
and 90 per cent on NBS (Cottrell pre- cipitate) type tests.
Agents are Gilman and Co., Ltd., Hong Kong, and Mechanical and Combustion Engineering. Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
STEEL SHEET
Stronger than Conventional Deck Plate
JAPANESE
manufacturers Nippon Kokan, of Tokyo. are marketing a lightweight steel sheet suitable for a variety of uses including bridge beams, floor plates, slab bridges, floor- ing for piers, support for reinforcing foundations and embankments, bridge approaches, pilings and flooring,
The configuration of the sheets. known as CT-Plank. provides stable and uniform distribution of

weight and pressure, and is said to be much stronger than conventional deck plate.
The sheets can be either bolted or welded. They are produced in thicknesses of 2.7, 3.2 and 4 mm: lengths of 600 to 1,200 mm and a width of 570 mm.
Nippon Kokan have offices in Hong Kong and Singapore.
BURGLAR ALARM
Self-contained Detection System Protects Site Offices
PORTABLE and easily transferred from one location to another, the Krotos electronic intruder detection system is recommended for use in site sheds. warehouses and stores, where it gives an immediate warning of any attempted illegal entry. In- stallation is simple since the device is supplied as a self-contained unit. complete with its own 12v. battery.
The main component in the Krotos system takes the form of a lockable wooden box, measuring 14 in. sq. by 14 in. high, which contains the tran- sistorised control unit and the battery. A warning siren adds 9 in. to the height of the box, and a small detect- ing unit, designed for mounting on at wall or
structural member of the building, connects to the control by means of a wire lead.
Once the system has been installed and switched on. the detecting unit becomes sensitive to any vibration in the building. If the intruder at- tempts to force a lock or otherwise gain entry, the detector picks up the vibrations and sends a signal through to the electronic control unit. This part of the system analyses the signal
