Secretaries' workstations. Secretaries are grouped in fours to take advantage of the dual use of the upstanding shelf units which have pinboard on their reverse side. Each girl has an L-shaped arrangement measuring a generous six feet in each direction which gives ample space for filings, copying and general laying out of information. The drawer is situated on the secretary's right hand, and the chair is similar to that used by the architect.

anthropometric recommendations to
give secretaries a writing height of 2ft. 4in. and a typing height of 2ft. 11⁄2in., we were surprised to find that our smallest girls typed quite happily at a height of 2ft. 6in. and that the remain- der were pleased with the standard heights. In a ruthless attempt to keep heights absolutely constant through- out the office we gave all parts of the secretarial unit a working height of 2ft. 4in.
Each secretary asked for a pull-out paper and equipment drawer to her right when sitting at the typewriter, and for reference space at each side of the typewriter. As with the architects, the girls are grouped in swastika pat- tern which enables dual use of pinboard and storage units. These units sit on top of the desks which are simple tables.
