WALL COVERING Non-flammable, Soundproof and Waterproof

SOMVYL is a homogeneous wall covering consisting solely of expanded polyvinyl chloride foam in fine closed cells. It is very flexible as there is no backing.

The blanket of air formed by the closed cells gives it good sound-proof- ing qualities. It is also non-flam- mable, waterproof and unaffected by chemicals.

PIPEFLASH

Plastic Collars for PVC Vent Pipes

GLASS reinforced polyester resin flashing collars for waterproofed flat or shallow pitched roofs and neoprene flashing collars for tiled, pitched roofs, have been added to the Pipeflash range available from D. Anderson and Son Ltd.. Stretford, Manchester, UK.

Both flashings are made in two sizes for use with 3 in, and 4 in, dia- meter PVC vent pipes from soil sys- tems. They provide a permanent weatherproofing and replace purpose- made metal flashings. No special tools are required in fixing.

For flat roofs, Pipeflash GRP is a single moulding comprising an 11 in. diameter base with a 51⁄2 in. high central conical section. It forms a natural bond with hot bitumen and its base is ribbed to prevent capillary attraction and to give an additional mechanical key.

The junction of the flashing and vent pipe is weatherproofed with a vent skirt fixed to the vent pipe to overlap the flashing. Vent skirt fix- ing is either by solvent welding or by

SINK TOPS

Laminate -clad Surfaces Embody Draining Grooves

TRYMLINE Drain-away sink tops, are constructed with wooden cores surfaced with postforming-grade For- mica laminate. An unusual feature is the series of draining grooves mould- ed into each drainer, since the process of moulding a laminate around such grooves has hitherto been extremely difficult.

The sink tops are made in chip- board or in 1 in. thick boil-proof plywood, protected by the Formica. The drainers have a % in. fall, and incorporate shallow, rounded grooves, while the worktops end in a short slope to the sink, which lies about 7/16 in. below the main level of the worktop.

At the back, the top is brought up in a 14 in high curved upstand, and the edges are veneered with matching Formica, The stainless-steel sink is let into the top, and supported by steel angle sections below the flange. The Formica veneer covers the flange to the sink edge, and is bonded to it. Tap holes are provided at 7 in.

The standard range is made to a depth of 21-9/16 in.. in lengths of 42, 63, 84 and 105 in., and in a variety of single-, twin- and two-bowl versions with single and double drainers, and worktops. Single bowls

EXPANSION JOINT

Leakproof Seal for Plastic Piping

AN expansion joint that also simpli- fies the connection of plastic piping into metal or dissimilar plastic systems forms part of a new range of poly- propylene pipes and fittings that Celanese Building Components have added to their Series Ten.

The sealing element is formed by a ribbed rubber ring that is trapped into the socket and provides a leakproof seal while allowing the pipe to move freely under expansion.
