VIBRATOR
Suitable For Finishing Suspended Floors
A TOTALLY enclosed vibrator for compacting and finishing suspended concrete/hollow block floors is being produced by E.P. Allam and Co.. Ltd.. Arterial Road, Eastwood. Leigh- on-Sea, Essex, UK.
Mounted in a framework with brackets to fit on to two screed boards and driven by a Villiers Mk. 15/2 HS air-cooled engine, the Duo Screed, as it is called, can also be used for compacting ordinary concrete floor areas, paths and roadways.
Greater compaction is claimed to be achieved at a single pass as a result of using two screed boards. The vibrator can be positioned anywhere between the brackets, concentrating

the vibration on the leading or trail- ing beam if necessary.
Adjustable side rails can be set to ensure the floor slab is level in both planes. The unit can be guided by one man in the centre or by ropes from either side and operates between the side rails.

MECHANICAL GRAB Operates from Fork Lift Truck or Crane
GRAB for stacking or unloading blocks and kerbs will lift ten 3ft. kerb stones weighing some 14 cwts. without the use of hydraulics.

Millars' mechanical grab
The grab is simply attached to the forks of a lift truck and bolted in
position. The lifting arms are placed
over the batch of kerb stones to be lifted and the lifting device is then released by cable from the driving position. The arms then apply pres- sure on the ends of the blocks which are ready for lifting.
This lifting mechanism is patented and ensures that the pressure between
the jaws is derived from the weight of the grab and the load acting through and multiplied by the crank lever. When the load is put down the locking device immediately and auto- matically acts to release the blocks and the grab can be lifted clear.
The jaws of the grab are fitted with resilient rubber bonded grips to allow for slight variation in lengths of the components of the load. The grab can off-load into stacks of 10 which can then be moved into posi- tion on site as required.
