Because of a limited budget, econo- my is exercised in the provision of air-conditioning. This is confined to the administration offices and the library where the minimum require- ments for comfort and the preserva- tion of books are allowed.
Concrete sun louvres are erected on the east and west facades to shade off the morning and afternoon sun. while admitting adequate light to the classrooms and dormitories.
The dormitories are on the top floor and house 100 boys and 50 girls. At the same level are two sick rooms and two wardens' suites.
Nerve centre of the school is the ground floor which consists of ad- ministration offices (east block), main entry and lounge, reception room and Alumni office (central block) and the student centre with medical inspection office and sick rooms (west block).
So far as possible, within the bud- get, permanent external finishes have been used to save maintenance costs at a later date. Terra cotta facing tiles and Gemstone Glamorock are applied where repainting without scaffolding is difficult.
