would perhaps normally be occupied by two.
Corridors,
bathrooms and store rooms have been planned in a single area to give minimum waste space. The corridor serving all four bed- rooms is very short.
All three bathrooms are located around a single duct to economise in plumbing costs. (The duct also serves a toilet of the entrance hall at ground floor level). Baths have been fitted into recesses made between store rooms and closets, and in spite of the small area occupied, an im- pression of spaciousness has been created by the use of mirrors.
No Disguise
One of the main external features of the houses is the variety of pitch- ed roofs. The main pitch follows the fall of the slope, but this is contrast- ed with the stair lighting hoods, and the steeper pitch of the roofs over the master bedroom and bathroom areas. No attempt has been made to dis- guise the sloping roofs inside the houses they have been emphasised as an attractive feature by treating them in a deeper colour than the walls.
The project has proved to be a commercial success too, in that all houses were rented within one and a half months of the Occupation Per- mit date much more quickly than normal with present day real estate conditions in Hong Kong.
