AS LAND is expensive in Hong Kong, very few of the Colony's secondary schools have been able to allocate much space for extra-curricular activi- ties. A major consideration in design- ing New Method College's new school premises at Man Fuk Road, Waterloo Road Hill, Kowloon, was to overcome this drawback by making the best use of only an average sized site. The re- sult is a building containing no fewer than 5 recreation rooms, a gymnasium which doubles as a theatre or an assembly hall, an indoor swimming pool and a covered playground in addition to 24 classrooms and the con- ventional facilities of a secondary school. A basketball court and a garden have also been sited on open ground.

The building does not follow the standard U-shaped layout of most other schools. It is compactly planned
