PLANT CLEANER
Heavy plant and machinery can be cleaned on sites where only a cold water supply is available by the use of new portable high-pressure cleaner made by Flexian Hydraulics Ltd., Salisbury, Wiltshire, UK.
The FH 4 DD works at 1250 p.s.i. and has a flow of 4 gallons per minute. The 4-cylinder diaphragm pump,

which will not overheat if allowed to run dry, requires no greasing or adjust- ment, and will self-prime from a depth of 3 metres.
The pump is powered by a Petter AB1, 5 h.p. diesel engine linked to the pump by a flexible coupling. Pump and engine are mounted on a two- wheeled trolley. The unit is supplied with 60 ft. of high-pressure hose, a lance, two jets, 10 ft. of inlet hose and a large capacity strainer.
SCREENING PLANT
A portable hydraulically-operated plant for screening sand, gravel or crushed stone has been produced by Alan R. Davies Ltd., Bishopsworth, Bristol, UK.
plant is fitted with a double-deck vibrating screen 6ft. long x 3ft. wide. Outputs of screened material depend on its specific gravity, size and mois- ture content, but under normal condi- tions shale is screened through in. and in. meshes at more than 150 cu.yd. per hour, and limestone at about 100 tons per hour. Output of fine sand through piano wire mesh is more than 100 tons per hour.
The Powerscreen is approximately 50ft. long overall and it consists of a 4 cu.yd. feed hopper with reciprocating tray feeder mounted over a 40ft. long x 24in. wide belt conveyor on a sub- stantial steel frame.
One lever controls all operations via the hydraulic pump which is powered by a 13 h.p. Lister air-cooled diesel engine. The hydraulics drive the feeder, conveyor and vibrating screen simultaneously, so that operation is simple, with very few moving parts.
LIFT TRUCK
Designed particularly for the con- crete products and construction in- dustries, the Pioneer 80 is a rough terrain lift truck with a basic capacity of 8,000 lb. at a 24 in. load centre.
It has a high ground clearance and a turning radius of only 16 ft. fully loaded. Weight distribution is 60 per cent on the front axle and 40 per cent on the rear axle.
The power unit may be a Con- tinental petrol or a Perkins diesel Known as the Powerscreen, the engine, both of which enable the truck

to climb a gradient of 36 per cent with a full load. A variety of uprights is available, including a three-stage version which can lift to 16 ft.
The makers are Hyster Co., PO Box 2902, Portland, Oregon.
LOADER
A rear-mounted bucket and a nor- mal front-mounted bucket are fitted on the 988 Carry Loader to double its carrying capacity. The machine is specifically designed to load both buc. kets from a stockpile, transport the material up to 2,500 ft. away and dump it into a ground level hopper or other receiving device.
Either 6 cu. yd. rock buckets or 6.5 cu. yd. general purpose buckets can be fitted. Each bucket has a separ- ate set of levers and valves to control lift and tilt.
The articulated frame and hydrau. lic power steering give the loader good manoeuvrability and a short turning radius.
A six-cylinder turbo-charged en- gine, giving 325 flywheel h.p., is com- bined with a three-speed forward and reverse planetary power shift transmis- sion system.
The machine is being introduced in S.E. Asia by Caterpillar Far East Ltd., PO Box 13069, Hong Kong.
