PUMP

Total Head is Increased From 80 to 120 ft.

as

A CHANGE of engine in the 3 in. Warsop P.30 centrifugal pump, compared with the model P.28 which it supersedes, has increased the total head from 80 to 120 ft.. without af- fecting the compactness and weight of the unit.

Automatically self-priming, and with a maximum free-flow capacity of 15.600 g.p.h. the P.30 is powered by a Villiers 4 44, four-stroke, air-cooled petrol engine, developing 8.5 h.p. at 2,800 r.p.m. and consuming approx. imately 0.7 g.p.h. It has a one-piece aluminium-alloy body, streamlined in- ternally to reduce friction, and fitted with a large drain cover at the lowest point of curvature and a replaceable Duralumin wear plate,

Engine and pump are close coupled by a cast aluminium-alloy huḥ, to form a compact unit without inter- mediate bearings between the output

shaft and the four-vane, disc-type im- peller of phosphor-bronze; the seal re- quires no adjustment or lubrication.

The P.30 is mounted on a steel- framed trolley, fitted with two 14,00-3 rubber-tyred wheels, handlebars, and a rear foot with rubber pad. It is 3 it. 6 in. long, 2 ft. 1 in. wide by 2 ft. 7 in. high, and weighs 266 lb.

Warsop Power Tools Ltd., Salfords. Redhill, Surrey, UK, are the makers. Agents are William Jacks and Co. Ltd., Hong Kong, and Harper Gil- fillan (Borneo) Ltd., Kuching.

RAMMER TAMPER Same Compaction Force as 6-8 ton Roller

A NEW rammer tamper weighing 159 lb. is being marketed by Stow Manufacturing Co., 627 Shear Street,

Far East Architect & Builder August, 1967

Stow Stomper TR 671

Binghampton, New York.

Known as the Stow Stomper model TR671, it is suitable for compaction of earth in confined spaces as well as large areas. Due to the combined force of vibration and vertical shock it compacts with the same force as a 6-8 ton roller, at the rate of 550-770 blows per minute.

The drive train is a simple pulley and belt drive, The unit is powered by a 3 h.p., two-cycle petrol engine and has a large automotive-type shock absorber mounted on its handle to minimise shock to the operator.

Additional features include a steel reinforced tamping base and a large two-wheel cart for easy movement.

Stow distributors include: William Jacks and Co. Ltd.. Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur: Amon Trading Co.. Manila: Term Engineering Co. Ltd.. Bangkok: and The Fair Enterprises Co. Ltd., Taipei.

VIBRATORY ROLLER

Towed Unit Develops High Centrifugal Force

LATEST addition to the Vibra-Viota range of towed vibratory rollers made by Aveling-Barford Ltd., Grantham, UK, is the VR.3.

Static weight of the unit is 4 tons 3 cwt. A maximum centrifugal force of eccentric masses of 32,000 lb. is achieved by a pair of independent. straddle mounted out - of - balance weights driven by a common central splined shaft, the vibration frequency being variable between 1,400 and 2,300 r.p.m.

-

The 6ft. wide roll has a diameter

of attach. This is useful in softer fill, enabling a smaller powered tractor to be used for towing, as less resistance is met.

A wide clearance is provided be- tween frame cross members and the roll ensures the prevention of loose material build up. Standard equip- ment includes a mechanically driven tachometer calibrated to register both engine and vibratory shaft speeds, an hours counter and 12v. electric start- ing, with provision for emergency hand starting.

Engine options are the Ruston & Hornsby 2YWA MKII twin cylinder air-cooled 4 stroke diesel (25 h.p. at 1,800 r.p.m.

1 hr. rating) or Petters PJ2 twin cylinder, air-cooled 4 stroke diesel engine (23 h.p. at 1,800 r.p.m. 1 hr. rating).

HYDRAULIC JACK

Destroys Concrete and Rock Without Blasting

THE Type 9 Rock-Jak, a low-cost tool for the demolition, without blasting, of open-face rock or mass concrete has been announced by K. O. Duncan Co.. 1942 20th Street, Boulder, Colorado, USA.

The Roc-Jak is inserted into a pre- drilled hole, and in less than two minutes, 70 tons of pressure makes a clean break in the material at right angles to the point of thrust. Material can be broken in any size, depending on the capacity of removal equipment used.

of 4ft. 6in, and provides a small angle Rock-Jak components
