The flooring is of in situ terrazzo in green, white and grey, designed with a fleur-de-lis motif. This general theme, which was considered in some manner to echo the name of the building, has been carried out through all the decorative panels where it takes the form of mediaeval devices.
In the double-storey concourse the two main columns are clad in beaten copper and carry designs of the same type, possibly reminiscent of the Black Prince.
The great central chandelier, the decorative panels, the bronze and copper murals and the balustrade glass engraving were all executed in Hong Kong by Mr. Antonio Casadei. They create an exciting atmosphere for the shopping arcades which open up as one walks around the two lower floors.
On the first floor, access to which is gained via the escalators, the theme is somewhat changed in that the owners wished for a shopping centre reminiscent of Bond Street or some other small scale but very exclusive area. Here the bronze arched shop fronts contrast with the onyx columns and red Salberger inserts. Green ter- razzo flooring provides a link with the lower two floors.
A local firm, Vannini Construction Co., Ltd., were responsible for the marble and terrazzo work and the installation of Mr. Casadei's mosaics. A marble cutting machine was installed on site to do the fine work, while major cutting was done at the firm's Shaukiewan plant.
All the materials used came from Italy. Exterior marble is Violet Moresque, Napoleon Gran Melange and filled Travertino Chiaro. In- terior materials are Red Salberga, Ivory Onyx, Blue Labrador, White Carrara, and light and dark Traver-
