CRANE
Suitable for difficult site condi- tions, the Coles Hydra Husky 100T crane has a telescopic boom, a maxi- mum lift of 10,160 kg., four-wheel drive and optional four-wheel steering. The power unit is a Ford 2704E diesel developing 105 bh.p. at 2,500 r.p.m., and is applied to the drive wheels through a torque converter pro- viding three forward and one reverse speeds, maximum road speed being 40.2 k.ph. The high-tensile-steel chassis, said to provide maximum stability, is fitted with fully-automatic

outriggers at both ends; the rear, arti- culated axle has independent-power- operated steering which permits crab- bing; and the front driving axle incor- porates double reduction with a dif- ferential.

act on all four wheels, and a spring- actuated transmission brake operates when parking. Tyre equipment com- prises 14.00-24 pneumatic singles fit- ted front and rear.

and thick wear surfaces assure long track link life. Seven track rollers, in- cluding four double flange rollers, per track frame are standard. Double wrap mechanical brakes have 618.8 sq.in. of friction surface. The brake design eli- minates the need for an emergency brake and permits dead-engine brak. ing.
Tandem hydraulic pumps, driven at the torque converter, provide 60 g.p.m. to operate the tilt cylinder and 29 g.p.m. for ripper operation. The

high.
Crane motions are powered by dual hydraulic pumps driven by a propeller shaft from a p.t.o. on the torque con- verter. The box-section boom has a basic length of 6.1m. and contains a telescoping section that extends to a maximum length of 9.8m. A version of the boom with a double telescopic sec- tion extending from 7.2 to 18.1m. can also be supplied, as can a 4.57-m.-long manual extension and fly jib. The maximum lift capacity for both dou- ble- and triple-extension types is 10,160 kg. at a 3-m. radius.
The boom itself telescopes at a rate of 30.5m. per min. in and 18.3m. per min. out and derricks to maximum radius in 12 sec. Slewing without limit in either direction, the crane can hoist a 1,820-kg. load at 61m. per min.

CRAWLER TRACTOR
The Allis Chalmers HD-16 Series B crawler tractor has a net flywheel horsepower of 195 from its turbo- charged 844 cu.in. engine. Forward speeds are: first 3 m.p.h., second 6.5 m.p.h.

track frame. Broad based stabilisers provide greater frame rigidity and bet- ter load distribution. The track gauge is 78 in.
for dozer operation. A single lever dozer control combines blade lift and
tilt.

COMPRESSOR
The Petter PJ85S portable air com- pressor has been specially constructed to show a marked reduction in noise output compared with machines of similar size.
It gives a free-air delivery of 75 c.f.m. at a working pressure of 100 psi. when running at a full-load speed of 2,000 r.p.m. A Petter air-cooled in- line four-cylinder diesel engine powers

the unit, the air compression being provided by the two centre cylinders which are driven by the outer ones through the common crankshaft.
The machine has a six-gallon capa- city fuel tank housed with the tool and battery store under a lockable steel canopy. The mounting is a two- wheel trailer with flexible independent suspension suitable for high-speed tow- ing. Overall measurements are 7 ft. 1 5/8 in. long by 4 ft. 221⁄2 in. wide by 3 ft. 5 in. high.
