The architect's proposal was to provide a line of buildings meandering along the long axis of the site, which would take the fullest advantage of the superb view on each side and which

would carve out sheltered open spaces suitable for small group meetings and other activities.
Placed on the prominent central part of the site is the mess block com- prising general purpose hall, kitchen and caretaker's room. On this area was formerly located a summer house be longing to the Church Missionary So- ciety. The old foundations have been
retained and incorporated in the con- struction of a raised lawn terrace ex- tension for the mess block.
The two-storey dormitory block is situated on lower ground behind the mess block and is so planned that its roof lines through with the lower roof of the mess block. By this means it has been possible to retain for the single- storey mess block expression of its
