The basic hydraulic unit can per- form most of the standard stressing tasks, and is wired to allow for the addition of various printed-circuit modules which simplify the operation and increase the control over the stressing loads.

GROOVING MACHINE

Designed to run on steel forms or straddle for slip form paving, the Bart- cure Model 770 creates grooves in plas- tic concrete for airport runways.

It can provide textures at a right angle to the longitudinal line of pave- ment, a broom or groove texture both transversely and longitudinally, or groove texture using longitudinal broom and transverse groove.

Other features include membrane spray curing, placement or roll-up of 1.000ft. of polyethylene film per roll for rain protection and automatic steering from stringline.

PILE HAMMER

Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Indus- tries Co. Ltd., Tokyo, have developed a new diesel pile hammer which is said to eliminate the reduced efficiency which most hammer have when driving into soft ground.

The new hammer is designed to drive the fuel pump by utilising the air pressure produced as a result of the drop of the piston when the fuel is sprayed into the cylinder.

Called the Jet-Hammer, the unit is free from overheating and can operate for long hours with no reduction in force. Since the fuel is sprayed, by a
