At elevated temperatures Vertilast shows no tendency to run out of the joint. This property has been suc- cessfully tested up to 212 deg. F., for a half-inch joint and up to 150 deg. F., for a one-inch joint.

The standard knuckle joint found in most casement stays has been elim- inated by incorporating a moulded nylon pivot. This simple development will allow greater flexibility of design without impairing the working action of the stay.

A matching reversible casement fastener, again using nylon bushes, has also been introduced. The standard wedge plate can be used on right angle or other angled window frames. Further information is available from James Collins (Birmingham) Ltd.. Leamington Road, Birmingham 23, U.K.

DOVETAIL JOINTS

Fast Production With Drill Attachment

accurate in. pitch dovetail joints in drawers, boxes, etc. can be produced in timber % in. I in. thick and up to 9in. wide by the Arcoy 2000 dovetailer, which may be used with any standard electric drill having a chuck capacity of 1⁄4 in, or

more.

With this attachment a 9 in. wide joint is produced in approximately 5 minutes, since no preparatory mark- ing out is required and since both pieces of wood are cut simultaneous- ly.

The dovetailer consists of a slotted guide, a cutting unit and a pair of clamping plates

the whole assembly being fixed to the work bench. The two pieces of timber are clamped to the plates and held in place by locating pins, so that they are positioned at 90 degrees to one another.

The slotted guide plate is screwed into place in front of the vertical

timber and the cone-shaped cutter, which has two cutting edges, is screwed into the cutting unit spindle which is gripped at the opposite end in the chuck of the drill.

When the drill is switched on, the cutting unit, with the cutter rotating, is fed in turn to each slot of the guide plate. The dimensions and spacing of the slots control the movement of the cutter and maintain the exact spacing of the tenons at 3⁄4 in. in- tervals.

CONDUIT CLIP Speeds Installation of Electrical Conduit

THE Klip-lok electrical conduit clip forms a single unit made up from three moulded Delrin parts. It fits all types of electrical conduit and, as it is easy to fix, speeds up installation.

Only one screw is needed to secure the clip into position, and this moves in a slot. The clip can be closed with one hand and is easily unclamped.

Four sizes are available, 34 in., 1 in. 14 in. and 11⁄2 in.
