SUMP PUMP 30 g.p.m. is Pumped Against 18 ft. Head
A FREESTANDING sump pump. 1DVOB64, the latest addition to the Worthington-Simpson range, employs an open-type impeller, and is capable of pumping 30 g.p.m. of water against a head of 18 ft. It will also pass solids up to 5 16 in. in diameter.
Standing 3 ft. 8% in. high and weighing 95 lb., the pump is driven
by a 2 h.p. elec- tric motor in the head, running at 1,450 r.p.m., which is automatically controlled by а float switch. Maxi- mum and mini- mum pumping heights are 2 ft. 8 in, and 6 in. respec- tively. and the float switch will start and stop the pump at these levels unless ad- justed intermedia- telv.
The maximum pumping tempera- ture is 180 deg. F. A wide base en- W-S sump pump
sures stability; maintenance is said to be limited to periodical greasing of the motor bearings.

WELDER
Current Can Be Remote Controlled
SUITABLE for connection to 220V mains supply as well as to 380V power supply, the Dalex-Werk welding rectifier model GK 346 L can be used in workshops and on building sites.
The housing of the unit is robust- ly constructed and its outside dimen- sions are 710 x 440 x 550 mm. Extra protection is provided by a steel tube framework which also acts as sliding skids. Four folding handles and two small wheels on the front of the unit enable it to be easily handled.

controlled by means of a light remote control box connected to the set by a cable. Even with cable lengths of 50 metres, the welding current can still be steplessly varied.
A special feature of the rectifier is its almost noiseless operation. The air cooling system used has elimin- ated a cooling fan and the unit is thus less affected by dirt and moisture than fan-cooled types.
The 380 V power model has a welding range of 70 to 220A and the 220V model a range of 25 to 125 A.

TWO NEW trolley-mounted priming Alcon pumps, the 2-in. Mk. 2A and the 3-in. centrifugal Mk. 4. are constructed of cast iron through- out. Both incorporate an open im- peller and a tungsten-carbide seal capable of handling heavy solids and abrasives.
Power for the Mk. 2A is provided by a Petter AA! four-stroke vertical air-cooled diesel engine which de-

velops 3.5 h.p. at 3.600 r.p.m. With this in operation, the pump will pass a maximum of 5.000 g.p.h, or reach a maximum head of 115 ft.
The pump body is flange-mounted to the engine crankcase and the im- peller fitted to the crankshaft exten- sion; overall dimensions are 2 ft. % in, long (excluding the towing handle) by 1 ft. 8 in. wide by 2 ft. 1% in. high.
The Mk. 4. driven by a 4.8 h.p. Lister LRI diesel, reaches a maxi- mum output of 15,000 g.p.h. and a maximum total head of 80 ft. Also available with an electric drive, it measures 2 ft. 10%1⁄2 in. long by 1 ft. 10% in. wide by 2 ft. 11 5/16 in. high.
A self-cleaning seal chamber makes the unit particularly suitable for use with water containing abrasive solids: there is also positive flushing and cooling of the seal.

CONCRETE MIXER Pan Machine Discharges Direct into Barrow
INTENDED primarily for mixing mortar, artificial-stone and flooring compositions. the 21⁄2 cu. ft. German- made Zyklos ZB75 mixer is claimed to have an output of 6 cu. yd. per hr. It is designed to load barrows direct through a bottom discharge, and to

undertake light mixing, both indoors and out e.g. of facing materials that require a fast, thorough mix.
A feature of this model, as of other Zyklos pan mixers, is the offset mix- ing star, carrying the rotating mixing blades which, in conjunction with the fixed deflector and scraper blades, is said to give an efficient "three-dimen- sional" mixing action in the revolv ing pan. This ensures that every particle of the mix is kept in continu- ous and varying movement, resulting in a thorough mix in 30-40 sec., with-
