The 3-BS has the same accommo- dation plus an additional bedroom, in- creasing the floor area to 60.6 sq. metres or 652 sq. ft.
Materials used in the dwellings in- cludes the following.
Window and door jambs and heads
Yacal timber: Roof framings Apitong timber; Fascia boards, doors, windows and sashes Tanguile tim- ber: Roofing Reynolds corrugated aluminium 019 in. thick: Ceiling- 4 in. class B plywood: Electrical combination of open wiring, metal moulding and rigid metal conduit: Painting vinyl masonry paint for interior and exterior masonry surfaces. enamel paint for doors and door frames, and emulsion paint for ceil- ings; Hardware Yale door lock sets for entrance and service doors.
Precast Panels
Seven types of precast reinforced concrete panel are used in the cons- truction of the two types of dwelling. These are designated: SP-1 solid con- crete panel, SP-2 half solid concrete panel, DP-1 door panel, WP-1 panel with regular window, WP-2 panel with high windows, and WP-3 panel with opening for french windows.
The basic panel is 4 in, thick, 3 ft. 113⁄4 in. wide, and 8 ft. 4 in. high. It has a groove along both sides and at
the top.
The reinforcement is a centrally placed welded No. 10 wire mesh, 8 in. x 8 in.. and added strength is given by a 3% in. diameter reinforcing bar around the perimeter, set in 3/4 in. from the edges. At openings for doors and windows support is given by the wooden members, the jambs being positioned before casting.
All the panels have chopped off corners and have a 3% in. bar embed- ded 12 in. into each corner for the purposes of jointing.
Concrete used for the panels has a minimum cement factor of six bags per cu, yd, and a minimum compressive strength after 28 days of 2,400 p.s.i.
Casting is done on site, using the oil covered floor slab as the casting bed. After 14 days the panels are handled by mobile crane or block and tackle.
The foundations for both types of dwellings are simple in situ mass con- crete slabs, and a 6 in. concrete bear- ing wall is provided to receive the wall bearing.

The panels are linked to each other by the dowels provided at the corners of each panel. They are also welded to dowels in the 6 in. bearing wall. All the joints are grouted.
In situ concrete with a central 1⁄2 in. diameter reinforcing bar is provid- ed to act as a plate, and to give extra rigidity a 4 in. x 4 in. poured concrete column with 1⁄2 in. bar reinforcement is placed at the corners of the dwellings.
The roofing frame is of rafter type construction with a central wooden beam, rafters at 4 ft. centres and purlins to carry the roofing sheets.
