A WORLD ORGANISATION
HONG KONG contractors are making the first positive moves towards the establishment of a World Organisa- tion of Building and Civil Engineering Contractors.
Members of the Colony's Society of Builders, hosts for the November conference of the International Federation of Asian and Western Pacific Contractors' Association, are travelling abroad to drum up interest in the project. On May 8, Mr. Paul Y. Tso, president of IFAWPC, will fly to New York to meet Mr. Lester C. Rogers, of Chicago, and Mr. Gonzalo Gout, of Mexico, respectively vice president and secretary general of the Inter-American Federation of The Construction Industry.
With the same aims, a three-man party from the Society, led by Mr. Luk Ping Sheung, secretary general of IFAWPC, is now on a round trip to Seoul, Tokyo and Taipei, visiting member associations. The party will return next month.
At last year's IFAWPCA convention a World Federa- tion Committee was set up under the chairmanship of Mr. Henry Wilckens, of Adelaide. Mr. Wilckens has been in correspondence with contractors' associations in Europe and North and South America, and observers from these associations will be invited to attend this year's convention.
