The increase in the revised estimates for Other Charges Annually Recurrent for 1968-69 is due to additional funds being required for Rewards and Special Services, Office Equipment, Running Expenses of Vehicles and Towing Fees.
The continued expansion of the activities of the Police Force is reflected generally in the increased provision for Other Charges Annually Recurrent for 1969-70, particularly in the votes for Rewards and Special Services and Arms and Ammunition.

The increase in the revised estimates for Other Charges Annually Recurrent for 1968-69 is due mainly to a higher volume of outward air mail traffic than was anticipated.
The increase in Other Charges Annually Recurrent for 1969-70 reflects the continuing expan- sion of the activities of the Department, particularly in respect of outward air mail which is expected to be maintained at a high level.
Included in Other Charges, Special Expenditure for 1969-70 is a sum of $400,000 for the pur- chase of two machines for sorting extra-large letters and a further $100,000 to explore the possibility of starting a scheme for self-service suites at convenient points in Hong Kong and Kowloon to sell stamps and stationery after closing hours of Post Offices.
