Recurrent subventions show an overall increase of $7,093,800 over the revised estimate. The subheads which account, in the main, for the increase are appended below together with brief explanations:-
Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital-$200,000, normal staff increments and additional staff; Caritas Medical Centre-$1,300,000, increase in bed-cost rates which were assessed in 1964 and the addition of a children's wing of 250 beds; Grantham Hospital-$420,900, increase of 34 Government- sponsored beds; Haven of Hope Tuberculosis Sanatorium-$430,000, basis of subvention changed to 2/3rds of operating cost of 220 beds, an increase of 140; Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society-$88,000, increase due to first full year of operation; Hong Kong Anti-Tuberculosis and Thoracic Diseases Association-$121,400 normal staff increments and repair and renovation of buildings; Hong Kong Red Cross, Blood Bank- $87,400, expansion of activities; John F. Kennedy Centre-$212,800, a new project; funds for first four months will be provided by World Rehabilitation Fund, Inc., Government providing for the rest of the year; Our Lady of Maryknoll Hospital-$375,500, a new extension to the Hospital has been completed and Government is subventing a total of 180 beds on the basis of 2/3rds operating cost; Pok Oi Hospital- $256,000, to meet rising costs and increased minor staff working on 8-hour shifts; Society for the Aid and Rehabilitation of Drug Addicts-$444,300, now subvented on a deficiency grant basis; Society for the Relief of Disabled Children-$590,000, addition of new block of 100 beds, provision of expanded hospital services and subvention now assessed on the basis of 2/3rds operating cost; Tung Wah and Associated Hospitals- $2,027,100, increase in number of posts, more beds, normal increments, higher prices of drugs and dressings; University of Hong Kong-pathology services-$63,800, higher recurrent costs of materials.
The Special Expenditure total of $2,363,000 is $1,833,000 more than the revised estimate. The increase represents revotes of the previous year's provision which was largely unspent.

Recurrent Subventions show an overall increase of $1,966,800. The organizations which account
in the main for the increase are:
American Friends Service Committee-$80,000 for general expenses; Boys' & Girls' Club Association $265,000 for general expenses and rates; Boy Scouts' Association-$129,000 for general expenses, including rates and expenses related to the second year's operation of the Five Year Plan; Caritas--$194,000 for general expenses and rates. The substantial increase is due to subvention granted to 5 new centres which were not subvented previously; Chinese Young Men's Christian Association $150,000 for club work, youth work and salaries revision; Five District Business Welfare Association-$12,000, this is a new application. The amount granted is for general expenses of 2 nurseries; Good Shepherd Sisters-$30,000 for general expenses and rates of Pelletier Hall and Mary Cove Centre; Hong Kong Catholic Youth Committee $23,000, this is a new application. The subvention granted is for the salary of a general secretary and for general expenses and rates; Hong Kong Council of Social Service-$110,000 for general expenses including rates and expansion of youth work; Hong Kong Family Welfare Society-$100,000 for general expenses and rates; Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups $116,000 for the salaries of a development secretary, general expenses and rates; Hong Kong Red Cross Society-$92,900 for the running expenses of the Princess Alexandra Children's Home and the Tsz Wan Shan Hostel; Hong Kong Society for the Blind-$138,000 for the salary of a Factory Manager, general expenses and rates; Hong Kong Society for the Protection of Children-$25,000 for general expenses and rates; Po Leung Kuk-$60,000 for the running expenses of the nurseries and other general expenses of the Kuk including rates; Salvation Army-$67,500 granted to cover increased services and for the Cheung Chau Home which is being converted to care for mentally retarded children; The Save the Children
