Under Other Charges Annually Recurrent the increase in the overall provision is due to a significant rise in respect of the "Consultations, conferences, committees" vote reflecting the increasing com- mitments undertaken by the department in respect of trade negotiations with overseas governments.

Provision has also been included in 1967-68 for the newly established Geneva office and for the proposed office in Washington.

The decision to disband the Hong Kong Royal Naval Reserve with effect from 1st April, 1967 is reflected in the changes in these estimates. All posts have been transferred to the Supernumerary establish- ment and will lapse and not be re-filled as and when the officers occupying them leave the Service or are transferred to other departments of Government. A block token vote is provided under Other Charges Annually Recurrent from which residual costs of the running down process can be met.
