The increased provision for 1964-65 is needed mainly for the normal expansion in expenditure on civil awards and contract gratuities. In addition, however, recent amendments to certain pensions legisla- tion have also increased the commitments in respect of Widows' and Orphans' pensions, refunds of Widows' and Orphans' pension contributions, and Volunteer and Defence Force pensions.
