Of the new posts listed above, 7 (including 1 Social Welfare Officer Class I and 1 Social Welfare Officer Class II) are provided for the new Aberdeen Welfare Centre. The remaining posts are to deal with the increasing volume of work in the Department and include 1 Social Welfare Officer Class I and 1 Social Welfare Officer Class III for the Relief Section and 4 Social Welfare Officers Class III for the Probation (2), Child Welfare (1) and Mental Welfare (1) Sections.
Under Other Charges Annually Recurrent, the increase ($335,700) in the provision in Subhead 6(8) Special Welfare Services is mainly to meet the operating expenses of the new Aberdeen Welfare Centre expected to be completed in September, 1963 and the increase of $99,300 in Subhead 6(5) Probation Work to cover the operating expenses of the Begonia Road Probation/Remand Home opened in March 1963.
