* Approved by Special Warrant during the year.

The additional and deleted posts listed above under Telecommunications reflect a re-organiza- tion of staff grades within this Section which was approved during 1962-63 and which included also the absorption in the Section of posts previously provided in the Radio Monitoring Unit under Head 36.

Other Charges Annually Recurrent show an overall increase of $1,441,000 over the previous year. This is principally due to the increased volume of mail handled, the main items being: Conveyance of Mails— $650,000; Dues to other Administrations (Parcel Post)-$200,000; and Stores and Equipment-$299,400. An additional $110,000 has also been provided under Rent to cover the renting of new post offices.

Special Expenditure items include provision for additional motor vehicles, principally for the improvement of delivery services but also for inspection purposes and for the conveying of mails in bulk to the G.P.O. The new subhead "Fitting out of new post offices", with provision of $300,000, is to cover work on new post offices to be opened during the year which was previously provided for under Head 62 Public Works Non-recurrent Subhead 320(1)—Minor works selected from Appendix IV, Category D.
