The revised estimate of expenditure for 1962-63 is 60.1 millions less than the approved estimate. In arriving at this figure, account has been taken of the supplementary provisions approved during the year for unforeseen expenditure. The Expenditure Estimates for 1963-64 are generally presented in the same form as those for preceding years. Two Heads of expenditure have been deleted-Census Department, consequent upon the completion of the task for which the Department was created, and Defence: R.H.K.D.F. Headquarters, follow- ing a re-organization effected during 1962-63.

A new feature is the inclusion at Appendix I of a salaries conversion table following a revision during 1962-63 of the salaries attached to certain female grades. A note on the purpose of this conversion table may be found at paragraph 8 of the Notes on the presentation of salaries etc. on page 3 of these Estimates.

A further new innovation is the listing, in the paragraphs of these Explanatory Notes relating to Head 62 Public Works Non-recurrent, of a number of posts provided for in certain works votes under this Head.
