Headquarters

The additional clerical staff is required to meet the increased work of the department.

Architectural Office

The post of Assistant Director was previously shown under Headquarters. The additional post of Assistant Chief Quantity Surveyor has been created to assist the Chief Quantity Surveyor in the general administration of his division and in particular to take charge of the group of surveyors working on new building projects. The increase in the establishment of the Inspectorate and Foremen Grades is to enable the Office to deal with the number of contracts in hand and growing maintenance work.

Crown Lands and Surveys Office

The post of Senior Estate Surveyor is required to relieve the Assistant Superintendent of Crown Lands of detailed work in the co-ordination of the Estate Surveyors in the Hong Kong Office, while the other additional staff has been provided to deal with the increase in land and planning work and for lease enforce-

ment.

Development Office

The additional staff is necessary to enable the Office to meet the increase in its normal day to

day responsibilities.

Drainage Office

The 19 Drain Chargemen posts approved are being offset by 18 posts of Semi-skilled Labourers whilst the other additional posts are required to meet the demands of the new towns of Kwun Tong, Tsuen Wan, Shek Wu Hui and Yuen Long.

Electrical and Mechanical Office

An Assistant Director (Electrical & Mechanical) has been created to head this ever expanding sub-department. The increase in activities of other Government Departments necessitate the expansion of this Office and the additional posts have been provided to ensure the efficient operation of this sub-department in meeting its commitments.
