Administration-The Storekeeper is provided for greater efficiency in the H.Q. Store where he will be in charge of Preventive Service uniforms. The Librarian is required to take charge of a room used for the departmental library of business reference books, a display of local products and visitors waiting to see senior officers.
Trade Development, Control and Supplies & Revenue Divisions-A new post of Assistant Trade Officer is provided in each of these divisions to bridge the gap between the existing grades of Executive Officer Class II and Trade Officer.
Trade Development Division-Two clerks and four Office Assistants are provided for the greatly increased number of certificates of all sorts currently being issued.
Control Division-Two additional Women Confidential Assistants are provided for the Preventive Service; the third post is in lieu of one post of Executive Officer (temporary). There is an overall decrease in the establishment of the uniformed members of the Preventive Service in anticipation of the arrival of more efficient launches.
Supplies & Revenue Division-The post of Section Accountant is provided to cover the increased responsibilities of the present Chief Bookkeeper. The additional posts of Storage Assistant and Tally Clerk are required for the more efficient control of reserve stocks of food and fuel.
London Office—The salaries of the Director and Assistant Director have been adjusted to bring them into line with the current salary increases of Civil Service officers in the United Kingdom. An additional clerk is provided.
Funds for the C.I.F. Directory (formerly Special Expenditure) are now included under Other Charges Annually Recurrent. The main increases necessary are $30,000 for Trade Promotion Expenses, which vote includes provision for participation at the New York World Trade Fair; $9,800 for expenses of Overseas Offices due to increased United Kingdom postal and telephone rates and National Insurance contributions for the staff of the London Office; and $5,000 for Cable and Wireless charges to cover two additional Radio Telephone sets.
Special Expenditure items include $90,000 to meet the cost of mechanizing the Revenue Licensing Office; $43,900 for two additional vehicles, two motor scooters, and one replace- ment vehicle; and $5,010 for office equipment comprising one copying machine for rapid facsimile copying of documents, photographs, etc., and one camera for use by the Investigation Bureau.
