The posts of Assistant Director and Senior Principal represent upgrading of 5 posts of Senior Education Officer. 2 posts of Education Officer, etc., were approved during the year. The additional 19 posts are required for the following purposes:

2 for new classes at Clementi Middle School

2 for the Technical College

4 for Hong Kong University Matriculation work at King's College, Queen's College

and Belilios Public School

2 to assist the Senior Education Officer i/c Government Schools

1 to assist the Senior Education Officer i/c Administration and Development

2 for general inspection duties.

2 for inspection of Chinese Middle Schools

1 for inspection of Anglo Chinese Schools

1 to assist the Organizer of Music

1 for Northcote Training College

1 for matriculation work

4 posts of Assistant Master etc., were approved during the year. Of the additional 5 posts, 4 are required for the expansion of Aberdeen Primary School to a full two-session school with effect from September, 1955, and 1 for handwork classes at Taipo Government School.
