KOWLOON FRONTIER DISTRICT

Goods normally exported were affected by the incidence of the foreign exchange regulations and the embargo and restrictions placed on many native products. Wood oil, tea, leaf tobacco, firecrackers and mineral ores which are staple exports of this district suffered most, the first-named article having declined from 119,167 to 3,276 quintals. The demand for poultry remained very brisk, 1,264,956 head of live poultry valued at 1.5 million standard dollars being exported to Hongkong, while that for duck feathers was dull, with a total export of 39 quintals only as compared with 365 quintals in 1938. No rice and other cereals were imported from Hongkong into the Kowloon district during the year.
